The Trump administration is moving to weaken federal protections for animals and plants, most recently making the killing of endangered species illegal only when intentional, according to a Sept. 14 U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service memo that would narrow the Endangered Species Act.

The article continues.

I will let you read the entire thing. I’m just adding my opinion. Let’s boil this down to the basics. Republicans have always hated environmental regulations. That’s no secret. What we are seeing today is a war on nature’s creatures and their environment. You might think, “Same shit, different day” but this is different. This is Trump trying to be cagey. Remember “drill baby drill”? It’s back only this time it has teeth. It’s now okay to drill for oil in the middle of a nature preserve as long as you don’t ruin the habitat and kill the wildlife intentionally. Of course, big oil is not going to fess up as long as they can say they didn’t kill the spotted owls on purpose.

The fun does not stop now that they opened up the wilderness to profiteers. They are turning their sights on our national forests. They want to open them up to highway construction and commercial logging. Their rational is that the forests have to have a ton of access roads so firefighters can save the forest ignoring the destruction they are sowing by doing so.

A comment on the wild horses. They have a little side hustle going. Since killing wild horses is illegal, the government tells the world that anybody can buy a wild horse for $25 and turn around and sell it for a profit to a glue factory in Guatemala. The sales have gone through the roof since this plot was hatched.
